Just had a chat with our previous manager, who called into my village local in Lancashire. He was in company, so I waited a while before going over to talk to him. What a thoroughly decent guy! We chatted for a good 5 - 10 minutes and it was clear that, not only was he sorry to (have to) leave us, but he loves the club and wishes us well for the future. He called Sullivan a "balloon case" and said that the chaos he inherited was bound for relegation. He wanted to stay for the long term and, while he is still sad to no longer be our manager, wishes us nothing but the best for the future. I said the same to him and, after a few crossed Hammers photos and a manly hug, we returned to our friends.

I liked him a lot. Did his job and throughout seemed like a nice, personable, honest and dignified man while there was obvious chaos going on all over the place at the club.
Happen to think he could have taken us forward with another season, but I certainly can’t complain that we have Pellegrini and I also think Sullivan never intended keeping Moyes on after the end of the season.

Respect our previous two managers for different reasons but one had to go and it seems one was never really in the job.

You are aware that at the time we sacked Bilic the position which Palace were in was one from which no team had ever escaped relegation are you not?
Hence my statement about Palace looking dead and buried.

As someone posted earlier Moyes did what he was paid to do though keeping us up was doable anyway so does not compare with what Hodgson did at Palace , who looked dead and buried by the time Bilic was sacked.
I will remember Moyes for hugely improving the performances of Arnie.

Moyes is and always will be a lower level, big time manager. He couldn't rise to the top with Man Utd as the creme de la creme invariably does because the leap was too big for him. Another manager that survived several years with the middling to lower top clubs and got well paid for it...

He did what he was hired to do and was impressed by the way he behaved and the things he said when he left.
I definitely have a higher opinion of him than before he came to us and I’d shake his hand and buy him a beer.
Hope he does well where he goes next but I’m glad we have Pellegrini instead.

I quite like Moyes when I hear him speaking as a pundit.
However, his approach in the cup games, and general refusal to play Hernandez, left me wanting him out the door ASAP.
